Touch screens aren't very popular in either class, with both gamers and workstation pros preferring the pixel-by-pixel control of a mouse. A solid baseline pick would be an in-plane switching (IPS) or indium gallium zinc oxide (IGZO) panel, which gives you the sharpest colors and contrast, as well as the widest off-center viewing angles. In the 17-inch class, workstations and gaming laptops alike benefit from choosing the right screen type. What Kind of Display Is Best in a 17-Inch Laptop? Whichever class of 17-inch machine you are considering, you're likely drawn to it by the one big thing the two main types have in common: the screen. Onscreen stuttering or tearing just won't cut it. They're designed to play the latest and greatest titles at high speeds-at least 60 frames per second, double the rate recognized as providing minimally smooth gameplay-with all the visual details and eye candy turned up to 11. With the exception that CPU muscle is a little less important while GPU strength is paramount, much the same applies to gaming rigs (also the stars of their own buying guide and roundup of ours that's worth checking out). And they rely on state-of-the-art CPU and GPU power to do so. Instead, they carry independent software vendor (ISV) certifications of compatibility and smooth operation with programs for way tougher computing jobs: computer-aided design (CAD) and advanced 3D modeling and rendering, crunching through huge scientific or engineering datasets, or delving into video editing and the creation of worlds for virtual reality. But mobile workstations, as seen in our special guide, laugh at such modest apps. Most, however, fall into one of two camps with diametrically opposed, but equally hardcore, audiences: mobile workstations, and serious gaming laptops.īoth types can handle what many PC users think of as work: office productivity and email using Word, Excel, Outlook, Chrome, Slack, and so on. Work or Play: What Is Your 17-Inch Laptop For?Ī few 17-inch laptops are general-purpose PCs for people who want an occasionally portable system with a large screen. Let's look at what they can do, and what to look for as you shop for one. Jumbo laptops aren't for frequent fliers, but they fill a big niche. They have plenty of room for all the ports you might need, as well as spacious, near-desktop-class keyboards with full keypads for numeric data entry. Their chassis accommodate the most powerful processors and graphics cards, the strongest cooling systems, the most memory, and multiple solid-state drives (SSDs) or hard drives for ample storage. So, are these tradeoffs too much to suffer merely for a pleasing view? Are luggables just the large-print books of the laptop world? (Just take a look at the tested runtimes of our favorites in our spec comparison table.) If yours can endure unplugged for more than four hours, consider yourself lucky. These machines are designed to run on AC power most of the time. Nor should you expect long battery life from a plus-size notebook. (The outlier, the LG Gram Pro 17, is an extraordinary case that comes in at under three pounds.) The heaviest, which are invariably gaming models, tip the scales at a back-breaking 7 pounds or more, and in some cases, that's not counting hefty AC power bricks. The lightest 17-inch laptops, with one major exception, generally weigh in at under seven pounds. On the negative side, this screen size dictates a bulky machine-one that's often too big for a briefcase, requiring a special laptop bag, backpack, or roller bag, and too heavy for more than occasional transport between home and office or cubicle and conference room. If you're a multi-window user on your laptop or your eyesight is challenged, a 17-inch screen can be a godsend. This is followed by a guide to what to look for in the right 17-inch laptop for you, and we conclude with a spec breakout of those top picks. Ready to go big? Read on for a breakdown of our current top, tested 17-inch laptops for 2023 in a variety of user categories. Best Hosted Endpoint Protection and Security Software.

With all viscosity techniques, temperature can greatly impact the results of testing. Common test methods for kinematic viscosity include ASTM D4212, ASTM D1200 and ASTM D445. Intrinsic viscosity is normally performed using the Ubbelohde viscometer.ĭepending on the equipment used, kinematic viscosity can be reported in units of meters squared per second, stokes, centistokes or time in seconds. Intrinsic viscosity is an important technique for characterizing polymers in dilute solution, because it provides information related to molecular weight and the conformational shape of a specific polymer in a chosen solvent. Therefore, the typical applications for capillary viscometers include: dilute polymer solutions, certain types of solvents, dilute solutions, syrups and oils. The capillary geometry is too small for highly viscous samples. The Ubbelohde and Cannon-Fenske viscometers utilize a glass capillary through which the fluid flows under gravity. The cup-type viscometers are typically used for paints, inks, varnishes and highly viscous coatings. Common ASTM test methods for dynamic viscosity include ASTM D4287, ASTM D562 and ASTM D2196.ĮAG Laboratories performs kinematic viscosity measurements using the following viscometers: Depending on the equipment used, viscosity data can be reported in units of centipoise, poise, Pascal-seconds or Krebs units. So you're saying I'm wrong in stating that the Automaton is the best AR in the game and probably the best AR of all time, but you didn't even know it has a 3 shot build? With both damage increasing barrel and magazine, it has 39 damage per shot anywhere in the body.COD Vanguard players will have a tonne of weapons to choose from! (Picture: Activision) You’d have to hit headshots for that 3 shot kill correct? With the damage mag it does 25 damage per shot, last I checked, we all have 100 health. Automaton there has nearly double the TTK of the Automaton in pubs (288ms vs 150ms)Īnd who said auto 3 shots anyways. Also, competitive is a completely different thing. I don't know, probably because it's a two shot if one of the bullets hit the head. I have Atomic and I have used all the ARs enough, which is why I'm saying the Automaton is better than all of them.īut lemme ask you why comp players banned the bar from the league? You obviously haven’t used the bar or cooper if you’re gonna sit here and argue that auto is better than both. TL DR: Apart from the lower recoil and slightly higher damage (which only makes a difference on headshots), Automaton blows it out of the water. Just a quick comparison to prove my point:ģ0 (45 spending one of the attachment slots)ģ.8 M/S with the meta build (4.2 M/S with all strafe attachments) MW3 ACR is better than the one in MW2, but still it's only advantage over the Automaton is the recoil, it loses in every other aspect. All of that without needing a perk to increase it's damage. Automaton also kills in three bullets but has a higher RPM (thus, lower TTK), higher magazine, higher strafe speed, and regens your health after every kill with the Frenzy proficiency. With stopping power, it kills in 3 bullets, has a low recoil and that's it. MW2 ACR is not even close to it if we aren't taking Stopping Power into consideration. You're just saying things without anything to back it up. Is it, though?īoth versions of the ACR beat it out every time. By that logic, the Swat 556 is better than MW3's ACR. That's the entire point of burst weapons. Okay? I didn't say it was, but you absolutely weren't hitting all three shots every burst. British sas11/23/2023 The issue in this specific case was the weather: no wind, high temperatures, and high humidity, with troops who weren’t acclimatized to those conditions pushing on through a “maximum effort” test. In 2013, three SAS reservists died during the selection course and 16-mile march in the Brecon Beacons. In history, in a few occasions, there were deaths during the selection process. The SAS operators are expected to be the best of the best and as such the training needs to be as tough as them. The SAS selection program is so grueling and rigorous that there have been some years that no candidates have passed selection. My respect to the British for creating what is possibly the most lethal feared and innovative Special Forces unit in the world that becomes an example for other SF units to follow. SAS selection and deathsīritish Special Air Service (SAS) selection is reputed to be among the toughest in the world with an average pass rate of 10% to as low as 3-4% in the ’90s, in some cases in the late 60’s no one passed SAS selection. Newly badged members must complete counter-terrorism training to be part of the Red and Blue CT Teams of the SAS that are stationed in the UK, other skills include communications, demolitions, language, sniper, HAHO, HALO, etc. Officers are demoted to their previous rank and they serve an initial 3-year tour with the SAS and may return for another tour. Within the squadrons are different troops like Air, Mobility, Boat, and Mountain troop.Įnlisted personnel revert to the rank of troopers. Once the combat survival phase is passed, candidates move on to their respective squadrons (A, B, D, G) and earn the sand-colored beret with the flying dagger symbols, with the legendary words “Who Dares Wins”. The successful completion is indicated by a DS with a white band around his arm and the words “your war is over”. If they fail then they have to repeat Selection right from the beginning in their 2nd and last tryout to be part of the SAS. In this phase, the final test includes candidates to evade a hunter force composed of men from the SFSG(Special Forces Support Group) and undergo interrogation. Candidates are known to lose up to 10-14 pounds of bodyweight in this phase. Candidates are taught combat, LRRP (Long Range Recon Patrols), survival skills for a jungle environment. This training takes place in the British Army Jungle Warfare Training School located in Seria, Brunei. The next phase is another 6-week killer phase known as “Jungle Phase” where they are taught operational and tactical skills to operate and survive in a jungle. Upon completing these 4 weeks successful candidates who opted for the SBS and SRR move on to complete different phases taken by their own units, Those opting for the 22 SAS now move on to a 4-week initial continuation training course where they are taught to fire weapons used by the regiment and other foreign weapons, demolitions, etc. A 4-week initial continuation training course The Sketch Map: Candidates are supposed to march 35 kilometers with a hand-drawn map rather than a printed one which is normally used in selection.Įndurance March: The final and ultimate killer, candidates are supposed to complete a 64-kilometer march with a 70-pound bergen in 20 hours. The two killer marches where even excellent candidates fail are: The last week of selection is known as “ Test Week” where candidates undergo continuous marches every day for the entire week with ever-increasing loads and distances. The British SAS selection course is the toughest in the world (Photo: SAS) In these marches, candidates are supposed to go from one point to the other, whereupon reaching a particular point the candidate is supposed to show the DS(Directing Staff) his next point on the map. Point-to-Point: Candidates are rigorously tested on their endurance, map reading and navigation skills. The Fan Dance: These marches have candidates go up and down the hills with combat loads. The marches are of various types, some of the famous ones are: The New Yorker: Did Last Summer’s Black Lives Matter Protests Change Anything? Los angeles weather history11/23/2023 A year later the society procured land from the City Council in Chavez Ravine for the Jewish cemetery, which served until 1900. This was the first social welfare organization in Los Angeles. Labatt as president Charles Schachno, vice president Jacob Elias, secretary and treasurer and S. Carvalho influenced his host, Samuel Labatt, to establish a philanthropic society and a Jewish cemetery. Carvalho, in 1854, directly stimulated the founding of the Hebrew Benevolent Society of Los Angeles. Services were held in various rented and borrowed places until the first synagogue was built in 1873 at 273 N. Rabbinically trained and traditionally oriented, he was the patriarch of the Jewish community until his death. Jewish services probably began on the High Holidays in 1851 and were more formally established with the arrival of Joseph Newmark (1799–1881) in 1854. Jews came from San Francisco and the East and directly from Germany and promptly set up businesses, or, procuring carts and wagons, began to trade with the prosperous Spanish rancheros. The Jewish population, in the wake of economic expansion, increased rapidly. Goodman, 24, Germany Philip Sichel, 28, Germany Augustine Wasserman, 24, Germany Felix Bachman, 28, Germany Joseph Plumer, 24, Germany and Jacob Frankfort, 40, Germany all were unmarried and merchants, except for Frankfort who was a tailor. A Los Angeles census of 1850 revealed a total of 1,610 inhabitants of which eight are recognizably Jewish: Morris Michaels, aged 19, Portland, Oregon Abraham Jacobi, 25, Poland Morris L. The prosperity filtered down to the rancho country of southern California and to the small town of Los Angeles, which was its marketing and commercial center. The majority did not engage in gold mining but opened stores in the small towns and mining camps of northern California. in 1850 as an aftermath of the Mexican War and the discovery of gold brought a surge of Jews from Western Europe and the Eastern U.S. With them was Jacob Frankfort, the first Jewish resident of Los Angeles. A year later the first party of pioneers traveled overland to Los Angeles from the Middle West of the U.S. The town grew slowly to 1,100 inhabitants by 1840.
